Description and diagnostic features
It grows flat on the ground with long spiky leaves sticking up. From the orange stem in the ground not only the leaves grow but a hollow flower stalk pushes up beyond the leaves and has a head of hanging yellow and red flowers.
Part used
The flower nectar can be used in cosmetics.
The orange stem and roots are mostly used to make a tea.
Uses
The root tea is used to clean the uterus and make young women fertile.

It grows in damper places like in runoff ditches and next to streams.
